10/20/10

Jackass 3D

The one movie you DO NOT want to see in 3D! And yes, I saw it on a date. I only closed my eyes 27 times. There was way too much poop and after what happened in my house, it brought back bad memories!

*shudder*

Takers

The only thing this movie is good for is EYE CANDY.

That's the only reason I was able to stay awake through it.

8/30/10

Dinner For Schmucks

A little disappointing.

8/3/10

Hot Tub Time Machine

I should have realized this by the title, but blah, I didn't like it. Maybe it was because I was watching it while I was doing some other stuff, but either way, it wasn't that great.

7/29/10

Eclipse

Dude. I finally saw Eclipse and managed to get through it without throwing myself at Jacob every time he appeared on screen.

Thanks DeAnna for going with me even though you've already seen it. Of course I don't think you minded too much. And tell your husband to stop being jealous of "dracula and scary doggies". Oh, and tell him they are vampires and wolves. Idiot.

(Love you Josh)

(And Jacob)

Have You Heard About The Morgans?

I'm not a chick flic kind of girl but this one was pretty funny.

7/20/10

Inception

Saw this one last weekend. At first I was a little iffy about it because it was a little confusing in the beginning but man, once the show actually got going it was amazing! A great action flick!

Despicable Me

I saw this with an old friend from my college days, no we didn't have any little kids with us, actually we saw it at 10:30 pm on a Thursday night because it was the only movie that hadn't started yet.

We weren't sure what to expect, being a kid's show and all, but we loved it. It was hilarious!!

7/13/10

The Crazies

This will definitely get your pulse going! It's about a small town where people start getting "sick" and basically go crazy and start killing everyone.

Fascinating right?

It's actually not bad for a horror/scary movie. Seriously, if you like scary movies, check this one out!

7/11/10

Toy Story 3

So fricken cute. I saw it with my mom, Lindee & Logan. Mom cried.

Brothers

The story is about a wife who's husband, a Marine, goes missing overseas and is presumed dead. After this tragedy the husband's younger brother takes care of the wife and her daughter.

Later the Marine is found after been captured and tortured by Taliban fighters. He is sent home to his wife and daughter. The hardships he endured overseas has affected him greatly and he begins to suspect his younger brother has slept with his wife.

I really liked the movie, it was a little predictable but it kept my attention and I loved the drama between the two brothers. I love the ac

Beyond A Reasonable Doubt

This movie is pretty slow moving, but it does pick up towards the middle. It does have some great twists which I love but you have to be patient!

But when ambitious rookie... High profile lawyer, Mark Hunter (Michael Douglas) has an impeccable record putting criminals behind bars and is a shoo-in for governor in the upcoming election. The Fourth Kind

Do you believe in Aliens? You might after watching this movie! It has some pretty creepy shiz. It's based on a real story and shows actual footage of the real incidents! I loved it.

CA-RAZY.

4/7/10

America's Next Top Model Cycle 14

It's baaaaaaack! This time with more spandex and leotards than ever!

Gag.

But I still love the show, bad makeovers and all.

4/2/10

The Box

Hmmm....I'm still not sure what I think about this movie. It's about a family who gets a visit from a strange man who gives them a box. Inside the box is a button and the man tells them that if they push the button, the will get one million dollars but there's a catch. If they push the button, someone who they don't know, will die.

The family has recently fallen on hard times so they seriously debate about whether they actually believe the old man and whether or not to push the button.

Would you push the button?

Do they push the button? Of course they do, it would be a pretty boring movie if they didn't. But what happens after they push the button?

You'll just have to watch to see!

Mwuahahaha!

3/29/10

Up In The Air

I loved it. Probably because the guy doesn't get the girl in the end. Plus it makes you think about what you want out of life and how to get it.

3/26/10

The Big Lebowski

Oh my God, this movie is hilarious. Albert and I watch it and pretty much laugh the whole time. It is definitely a movie you want to own, it gets better every time you watch it.

Jeff Bridges is SO good in this, he will always be THE DUDE.

Here is the plot from IMDB website:

When "The Dude" Lebowski is mistaken for a millionaire Lebowski, two thugs urinate on his rug to coerce him into paying a debt he knows nothing about. While attempting to gain recompense for the ruined rug from his wealthy counterpart, he accepts a one-time job with high pay-off. He enlists the help of his bowling buddy, Walter, a gun-toting Jewish-convert with anger issues. Deception leads to more trouble, and it soon seems that everyone from porn empire tycoons to nihilists want something from The Dude. Written by J. Lake

Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski is the ultimate LA slacker, until one day his house is broken into and his rug is peed on by two angry gangsters who have mistaken him for Jeffrey Lebowski, the LA millionaire, whose wife owes some bad people some big money. The Dude becomes entangled in the plot when he goes to visit the real Lebowski in order to get some retribution for his soiled rug, and is recruited to be the liason between Lebowski and the captors of his now "kidnapped" wife. Written by Alex Barron

Dude Lebowski is met by two mobsters wanting repayment of a loan that he knows nothing about. This simple case of mistaken identity entangles him into a complex kidnaping plot. Written by Mike Arndt

The Dude and his bowling buddies (Walter and Donny) find themselves doing Philip Marlowe's Job in this complicated story that owes a lot to The Big Sleep. Written by Peter Macfarlane

3/24/10

Whip It

Meh. It's your typical Nerdy-Girl-Turns-Popular-Girl movie, but on roller skates.

3/21/10

Precious

I can't believe I almost didn't watch this movie. I thought it was going to be another one of those "teacher helps kid in rough neighborhood" type of things but boy was I wrong.

This movie was disturbing, powerful, painful, sad and inspiring all at the same time. If there were ever a movie that could affect you and reach right to your soul, this one is it.

Yes, it's sometimes hard to watch because what happens is just so unbelievable but it is worth it. Warning, the mother in the film doesn't shave her armpits or legs, very gross!

This is also a show that my mother would never ever watch. It's got the F word right and left but I believe it needs to be that way, it shows how harsh some characters are. And Mo'Nique's Best Supporting Actress Award is WELL deserved. She is incredible, especially in her last scene.

I think everyone needs to see this movie, well everyone that can handle it.

Warning: You will cry.

3/19/10

Moon

Plot: Astronaut Sam Bell has been assigned a 3 year stint on the Moon all by himself. The only companionship he has is a computer, GERTY. The movie opens at the end of his 3rd year just 2 weeks before he gets to go home to his wife and daughter.

He is constantly struggling to keep himself sane and knows he is beginning to hallucinate. He is so close to going home but has a small accident where he is knocked unconscious and when he awakes, he finds that some things have changed. Is this part of his hallucinations or is it real?

Will he be able to leave and get back to his wife and daughter?

This is a movie that you really have to watch with no distractions or else you will get confused, as I did! It is not an entertaining, action packed movie, it's another slow moving "thinker" movie. But I still enjoyed it!

3/16/10

A Serious Man

Plot:

"A black comedy drama centered on Larry Gopnik, a Midwestern professor who watches his life unravel through multiple sudden incidents. Though seeking for meaning and answers he seems to stay stalled." Full synopsis

I liked this movie. It was dark, funny, and a little disturbing and I really liked it. Of course I always love dark depressing movies but this one was different. I loved the characters and how the ending left you knowing but not knowing what is going to happen.

It's definitely not a movie for everyone.

It's a thinker, not an entertainer. If you want to feel better about your life, this movie's for you!

3/12/10

Where The Wild Things Are

I loved it!

3/10/10

Cold Souls

This movie has a very strange plot. It's about an actor who hires a company to extract his soul from his body because he believes it will help his acting skills. He is having trouble disconnecting his real life from the character that he is playing in a theatre performance.

I'm dead serious. The company extracts his soul and stores it for him so that he can have it put back in when he feels he needs it. After a while, he realizes that he needs his soul, (duh) but problems arise when he finds out it is missing and they may not be able to find it.

Little does he know that a Russian actress took his soul to use as her own in order to help better her acting skills.

So essentially the movie is about a man searching for his soul.

Literally.

Alice In Wonderland

I really liked it. I thought the plot was a little lacking, especially the ending, but I can look past that and just enjoy the characters.

I loved the Red Queen. She was hilarious! She was definitely my favorite character, yes I loved her more then Johnny Dep. Gasp!

I want to go see it again in 3D!

3/3/10

The Invention of Lying

Seriously funny! Even the hubs liked it!

3/1/10

Shutter Island

I'm not quite sure what to say about this movie other than it was not what I expected. I was expecting a scary movie but it didn't turn out that way. I think I liked it? There is a great twist which is always a good thing.

Yes, yes I think I liked it.

There ya go. Just go see it. (Prepare yourself for some corny dream sequences.)

2/25/10

Surrogates

You know, this is one of those movies that had a great idea but in the end, they could have done so much more with it. I do like the concept of where the movie was going but it just fizzled out for me. I was disappointed. I don't think it was a really bad show, but I expected more.

2/23/10

Big Love Season 3 on DVD

Who wouldn't love a show about polygamy? I especially love it because it is filmed in my state, who knows, maybe I'll be in the background one of these days. Or an extra! I could be one of the wives at the camp. I'd french braid my hair with a bump-it and everything!

This season especially has so many Mormon references. It's interesting to watch and see how many they actually get right. Hey, I think I just came up with an awesome drinking game there!

Yep, the angel Moroni is on top of the Salt Lake Temple! Take your shot!

2/22/10

Valentine's Day

Oh man this movie sucked. It was just cheesy people. I expected greatness from putting so many great actors together in the same film!

But it wasn't greatness.

I blame the screen writer. I mean COME ON!

Anyway, the best thing about the movie? Taylor Swift. She was pretty funny.

(No, I'm not even going to mention the other Taylor until he turns 18 thankyouvery much.)

2/18/10

Ghost World

I saw this movie on the "Movies You Must See Before You Die" list. I forget what website.

It was made in 2001 and I did enjoy it. It's one of those movies with an underlying theme that you realize at the end of the show (Similar to The Graduate). It seems at first a bunch of meaningless scenes about two girls who graduated from high school and how they fight boredom while deciding what to do with their lives.

They are both very sarcastic with a dark sense of humor and enjoy playing jokes on innocent people. One person being an older man who they eventually become friends with and who changes the life for one of the girls.

It's one of those tortured teen movies where they wallow in their sad depressive state, but we can all relate to that right?

Just watch it.

2/14/10

Couples Retreat

Some funny parts.

2/12/10

Hump Day

A low budget film made for the Sundance Festival. I heard it was really funny from a film student at the U so I thought I'd check it out.

It definitely has some funny parts, but not funny "ha ha" more funny "Oh my god did that really just happen?" funny.

It's about a couple who is visited by the husband's old roommate who is pretty wacky. They let him stay over for a few days and craziness ensues. The friend and the husband end up at a party where they get drunk and high and somehow promise that they will make a porno for a film festival that's happening over the weekend.

A gay porno.

With just the two of them.

Yeah.

So the plot goes on, will they end up actually going through with it just so they can prove to each other that they don't back down from a challenge? What will his wife say?

I thought the movie was just so-so, it definitely would have been better watching it with a group of people to laugh with, but you can judge for yourself.

2/10/10

500 Days of Summer

It was really cute, I was expecting a chick flick but was pleasantly surprised.

2/4/10

All About Steve

I want Sandra Bullock's legs.

That's about all I got out of this movie.

2/3/10

This Is It

I wish I could have seen this on the big screen but I missed it. Watching this just makes you sad to see how hard everyone was working to get this show going only to end by tragedy.

Michael Jackson just looked sick. Skinny and sick. He's still got moves but he never really did anything full out in order to save his strength. The director was constantly worried about him getting hurt.

It is just amazing to me to see all the dancers and people working behind the scenes of the show! MJ was definitely a perfectionist and that show was going to be AMAZING!

2/1/10

Avatar

I finally saw Avitar! We saw the late late show in 3D over the weekend and I thought it was pretty good. I just say "pretty" good because I thought the plot was very predictable, I mean anyone heard of "Dancing With Wolves"? Basically the same plot.

But of course the special affects are amazing! Everyone should go see it just for the special affects. But please, do not try to kill yourself afterward!

It is NOT real.

I repeat, it is NOT real.

1/28/10

Deadline

I rented this movie right after Brittany Murphy died so it was a little weird to watch. Kind of like watching Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight.

So sad.

Murphy's character is a writer and has a deadline that she needs to meet so she decides to isolate herself in a huge house in the woods. (Hello? Typical scary movie). She is also hiding from her ex boyfriend who just got out of jail for doing something that you will find out in the movie.

While working alone, she starts wondering the house and happens upon a box of home video tapes of the couple that lived in the house a few years back. As she becomes obsessed with these videos and staying alone in the house, she starts to see and hear things that aren't really there.

And you'll have to watch it to figure out what is reality and what isn't! LOL

1/25/10

LOST Season 5

On to season 5 on DVD.

*Spoiler alert*

Is anyone else a little weirded out about a disappearing island?

1/22/10

Fame (2009)

I've never seen the original version of Fame so I can't make a comparison, but I can comment on my likes and dislikes of the new version.

Likes: Dancing, dancing, dancing, dancing.

Dislikes: Don't get me wrong, I love Kherington (Season 4 So You Think You Can Dance) but I don't think her talent was portrayed very will in this movie. The plot line was predictable, just like all other dance movies but hey, who is watches it for the plot?

Just watch it for the talent and you will enjoy it!
