Blood Into Wine

This is a documentary about Maynard Keenan (from Tool, A Perfect Circle, & Puscifer) and how he started his own vineyard in Arizona over ten years ago. It's funny, it's informative and hello? It has MAYNARD KEENAN in it!
It's a must see for any Tool and/or wine fan!!!

Up In The Air

I loved it. Probably because the guy doesn't get the girl in the end. Plus it makes you think about what you want out of life and how to get it.

Cold Souls

This movie has a very strange plot. It's about an actor who hires a company to extract his soul from his body because he believes it will help his acting skills. He is having trouble disconnecting his real life from the character that he is playing in a theatre performance.
I'm dead serious. The company extracts his soul and stores it for him so that he can have it put back in when he feels he needs it. After a while, he realizes that he needs his soul, (duh) but problems arise when he finds out it is missing and they may not be able to find it.
Little does he know that a Russian actress took his soul to use as her own in order to help better her acting skills.
So essentially the movie is about a man searching for his soul.
Literally.

Big Love Season 3 on DVD

Who wouldn't love a show about polygamy? I especially love it because it is filmed in my state, who knows, maybe I'll be in the background one of these days. Or an extra! I could be one of the wives at the camp. I'd french braid my hair with a bump-it and everything!
This season especially has so many Mormon references. It's interesting to watch and see how many they actually get right. Hey, I think I just came up with an awesome drinking game there!
Yep, the angel Moroni is on top of the Salt Lake Temple! Take your shot!

Law Abiding Citizen

It's about a man who's wife and daughter are murdered and the killer was put on trial but a plea bargain sets him free so this man decides to take the law into his own hands.
It's one of those shows where you're not quite sure who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. It's a really good show with a smart plot and plenty of shocking moments, including one that made me pee a little. I loved it, however the ending was a touch on the cheesy side, but that's just me, my husband didn't think so.

The Informant

Saw this on Friday with Kev and Andrea. We went to the 10:10 pm show so I was already a little tired when we started watching it, but about halfway through I started falling asleep.
It is a very slow moving show! It would probably be better to see this show at an earlier time. I though it was okay, I guess I was expecting something different because the reviews said it was really funny. There were definitely funny parts, but not like laugh out loud funny.
But I do agree with the reviews in that Matt Damon was amazing!

Blindness

Dude, this movie was wacked! (Do I sound cool there? I'm trying to earn street cred with the teens ya know.)
In the movie, civilization is threatened with an outbreak of blindness. People start to panic and the government begins to quarantine those people who have been diagnosed with this odd disease.
While being quarantined, the ugly truth of human nature is revealed through heinous acts by blind individuals in order to survive. It's pretty shocking of how the movie depicts the world in this crisis.
As the whole world goes blind, there is one woman who is immune to the disease and continues to see. She witnesses the downfall and horrible impact that this blindness has on the world.
This movie is slow moving at first and is really out there so you have to watch it with an open mind and of course you have to find the meaning behind the whole concept.

Defiance

The hubster and I both loved this movie. It's kind of like a disturbing Robin Hood film. It takes place during the Holocaust and is based on true events of a few brothers who help other Jews find safety.

The Secret

I've read the book but wanted to check out the movie too. I borrowed it from the library and it was well worth the time I had to wait for it to come in. I love this book and watching the movie get's you inspired even more.
The secret has worked for me so many times! It will work for you too if you do it correctly! Try it!

State Of Play

Good movie! It's about a reporter who tries to solve the mysterious death of a congressman's mistress. The congressman and the reporter are friends with a rocky history that complicates things during the investigation. Unexpected twists and a surprise ending sum the movie up nicely.
You'll like it.

18 Kids And Counting

Have you seen this show? This family is seriously crazy! They don't let their children watch TV, the mother home schools ALL 18 kids, all their names start with the letter 'J', the father's name is Jim Bob, the girls will cover the younger boys eyes if they see an immodestly dressed girl walking down the street, they don't let their children date until they are engaged and even then they have to be chaperoned, and they can't kiss until their married!
Looks like their oldest son and his wife have been doing a lot more than just kissing now that their married!
Yep, they are now getting a grandchild!

Seven Pounds

Yes, it's a sad movie but it is so good! You have to see it. I love how you don't quite get what's going on until the very end of the show. Those are my favorite endings.

Sideways

Love this movie. I've seen it before but after seeing bottle shock I wanted to watch Sideways again. It's about a depressed wine connoisseur, Miles, who takes a bachelor trip with his friend, Jack, to the wine country before Jack gets married.
The show has a lot of talk about wine and this wine slob hates Merlot. The movie Merlove was made after Sideways to kind of stand up for Merlot.
Favorite line of this movie (censored):
Jack: "If they want to drink Merlot, we're drinking Merlot."
Miles: "No, if anyone orders Merlot, I'm leaving. I am NOT drinking any Effing Merlot!

Bottle Shock

This movie is based on a true story in 1976 about the winery Chateau Montelena that was started by Jim Barrett. His son Bo is a hippie who works for him at the winery which is struggling financially and causes a lot of contention between father and son.
The plot includes how a wine connoisseur from France comes to California to find the best wines to take back with him to compete in a blind wine tasting against Paris wines. If you like wine and are interested in all the complexities of how it is made, then you will enjoy this show.
For those who are not into wine, the show still has a good plot with a love story for the girls and some fighting for the guys. Me? I liked it and found it interesting about how this winery functions.

Rachel Getting Married

Ok, Anne Hathaway is not Rachel. Anne Hathaway is not the one getting married.
I was confused for the first 15 minutes because I thought she was Rachel.
Ok, this movie is not for everyone but I liked it. It's a real movie where you have to think and dig deep to really understand and appreciate it.
My husband hated it. So it may not be for guys. The movie portrays Anne Hathaway in a very different role than her usual hollywood sugar gumdrop roles. I loved her in this! It was depressing at times but the ending was great and tied everything up with a nice happy bow.

MILK

This was a pretty good show, but when I found it a little boring. When I watched it I really was more in the mood to be entertained, not to learn something. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE shows that have a message, but my brain was tired when I watched it so it was a bit boring to me.
I LOVE Sean Penn, I think he is such a good actor. Especially in I Am Sam, he broke my heart in that show! He does amazing in this show too!
The show has a good message and hey, it's history. Movies are the only way I learn about history!
